Lucile R. Ralston Merit Award

Presented at the annual meeting to an active member or officer who has made the greatest contribution during that year to promote the growth and progress of the Nantucket Garden Club. The President and the Award’s Chairman will appoint one other member to select the recipient for the current year. A silver pitcher (12” high x 9”wide) engraved:” Nantucket Garden Club, The Lucile R. Ralston Merit Award”. The names of the winners since 1967 are engraved on the side. On the bottom appears: Ball, Tompkins and Black Successors to Marquand & Co. It will be filled in 2005. A certificate has been given since 2003.

Mr. and Mrs. William B. Macomber Conservation Award

Presented at the annual meeting to an active member or officer of the Garden Club or to a person in the community who has made the greatest contribution during that year or in the past years. An engraved Revere style silver bowl has the inscription: Mr. and Mrs. William B. Macomber Conservation Award”. The names of the recipients are engraved around the outside. The base is marked: G Woodward Lathrop, EP, 9in. Established in 1993.

Ruth Lerrigo Parker Award

given at the annual meeting to the person who has shown, in the opinion of the awards committee, laudable dedication to the art and practice of gardening.

A framed citation showing the quotation: “When the world wearies and society ceases to satisfy, there is always the Garden.” Established in 1994. Award made at Poet’s Corner.

Budding Star Award

presented at the annual meeting to a member of fewer than 5 years who has made a laudable contribution to the spirit and goals of the club. Given in memory of Bunny Evans and Marta Greene by Caroline Ellis in 2005. The ivory pin designed and made by Nancy Chase in 2005, will be worn by the recipient for one year and passed on to the next year’s winner.

Worker Bee Award

The Worker Bee Award is given to a member of the Nantucket Garden Club who has performed many good deeds of service over the years. This award is given to a member who is often working behind the scenes, some one you can always count on to get the job done.  A member who pollinates seeds of good will by being available and willing to engage in club activities that help our club strengthen and grow.
