Guidelines

 The Nantucket Garden Club Community Grant program is available for local non-profit organizations seeking funding for specific programs and projects that benefit the general public.

We do not wish to provide budget operating funding or general requests, but we choose to support specific programs, or help implement a plan with start up seed money, that the applying organizations will continue to support in the future.

 Each summer our volunteer club members conduct the August House Tour, to raise funds for these community projects and four local scholarships.  It is a %0 year legacy of giving back to the community.  These funds promote, horticulture, conservation, preservation and beauty of Nantucket.

 Our committee reviews the applications that are received by August 1st.  Allocations are granted in June of the following year, and we request a brief progress report and update on this activity before August 1st.

 Typically we give grants in categories of funding as follows:

  1. one or two projects, over $3000 each
  2. two or three projects. $1500-$1000 each
  3. less than ten projects. $500-$200 each

 While there are many worthwhile requests for our NGC funding, we must select only a few each year that are in line with our mission and purpose.

 “The purposes of this Club shall be (a) to promote better knowledge and love of gardening, plants, flowers, and all branches of horticulture; (b) to conserve birds, wildflowers, native plants and trees and the ecological well-being of Nantucket Island, the Commonwealth of Mass and the Nation, through direct contribution to civic, charitable and governmental institutions and funds that qualify as tax exempt; and (c) to raise and expend money for public benefit through projects contributing to the beauty of the Island.”
